PostSubject: Hospital update   Fri Jul 27, 2007 1:51 pm

We went to the hospital on Monday spent nearly 2 hours there. It was very productive and although I got very upset I know I have done a good job.

The hospital has taken account of all my comments and rewritten their leaflet - we agreed the wording on Monday, so they now have a series of 5 leaflets including one about memories of your baby and how you can now go to a service on the first saturday of every month as the chaplain has agreed to do a service. People don't even have to say they're going to the service, the chaplain will hold it even if no one turns up. I think that's great. Plus, they have changed their practice so they now offer medical management of miscarriage (ie. taking tablets / pessaries) when the woman wants it and it's appropriate, which is a major step forward. They have used all my wording and the only thing they haven't agreed to is giving each woman a pack of pads etc and painkillers etc - they say they can't afford it but they have put the need for these in detail in the leaflets.

I think "happy" is the wrong word but I am very pleased that they listened to me and I feel some comfort in knowing that this will make a difference to other women going through this terrible experience.
