PostSubject: Starting Solids   Fri Dec 08, 2006 4:43 am

Another month to go and I will be thinking of moving my bubs onto solids. Some parents dont bother till around 6 months. But I feel alot of babies are ready by 4 months. And it keeps them satisfied longer.

I am starting my baby off on mashed banana.I cant wait too see his little face when I spoon him it. lol!

What age did you move your baby onto solids?...or if your baby is still too young, when are you thinking of doing it?

Even if they dont have 8oz of milk just try them on solids anyway. If they dont want it, then they wont take it.

You could always give them one bottle less a day, then that way they will be more hungry and take the solid food. Very Happy

I started Kerrie on baby rice when she was about 4-5 months, when I first tried her on it she wasn't interested...so think babies know when they're ready.

Hi girls

I started Ollie when he was 18 weeks. He started on baby rice for 3 days & then we moved on to single root veg like carrot, sweet pot, parnsip etc.
He loves his food & sits there like a little sparrow with his mouth wide open waiting for me to shovel more in!!!
He still has the same amount of milk as that is the most important thing in his diet at the moment. But he is now on 2 meals a day & is loving it.

I am trying to figure out at the moment though where to fit his milk feeds in but I am sure that it will all fall into place somehow!!!

Hi Glitterygirl :)

My Little girl is 13 months and I think it was around the same time as you I started her on solids.I started her on mashed banana at first.

Milk I gave her first thing when she woke in the morning with some breakfast, then at lunch time just milk. And at dinner I then gave her some baby rice and milk. and then before bed, some more milk

He had mashed banana for lunch!
At the moment he is having milk at all feeds, I am waiting for him to drop one himself.
