PostSubject: Home Birth?   Thu Oct 26, 2006 8:04 am

My midwife was trying to persuade me to have a home birth as my 1st pregnancy went so well.

I would love to as the Hemel Birthing Centre is now closed where I had Kerrie. The only problem being....my walls are really thin. We are end of terrace but I would worry my neighbours which are attached to us would hear me...as I wasn't very quiet!!

Any opinions?? scratch

LOL thin walls!

Hmm home births. I dont really know alot about them. What happens if things go wrong? Thats what worries me. Just because everything went OK in the first birth doesnt always mean things will go OK in the next.

Bah i dunno, what do they bring equipment wise?

I'm not worried about things going wrong as I would be in the same situation as I would have been at the Hemel Birthing Centre...if there are any complications then they blue light you to Watford Hospital.

I don't want to have this Baby in Watford which is why I want it at home, maybe I should pay the neighbours to go out! LOL

Hi there, i would like to have a home birth next time round but i also have the problem of my neigbours, but i have already asked them if they would mine, they said as we know you are having a baby then i think we could cope.....it's not forever...

I think if you tell your neighbours your plans and ask them what they think i don't think they would mind unless they are really mean.....xxx

Too Funny Yeah, best to warn the neighbours, they might think your being attacked and then you'll end up with Old Bill at the birth too!

I had a friend who had a home birth with all 6 of her children. She didn't have any problems what so ever and she was up and about within an hour of giving birth. She had really quick labours with all of them too, but I understand that everybody is different.
I was in my other friends house next door and she lives in a terrace house. We didn't hear a peep.
I wouldn't worry about the neighbours Sammy.
Just think how nice it will be to be in your own surroundings.. you can prepare the room where you are going to give birth with all the things that you love.. some flowers, some nice music playing quietly in the background, A few candles if it's in the evening that you give birth.. you could make it really cosy and special.. you know what I mean lol!

hmmm sounds nice :)
We're an end of terrace so not too bad...but I'd want a water birth so I'm not sure our bath would be big enough...don't want to have to buy or rent one.

It's just a shame the birthing centre where you had kerrie has closed down really.
I have to say I wouldn't fancy giving birth in a regular sized bath.. scratch

aww what a shame. At least you was at the best place. I think I'll have my next one at home as I really wasn't happy with the Watford Birthing Centre. Hopefully it'll be nice and quick like Aislyn was.
